Lecture on SKAN at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts

On February 21, 2024, Daniel Gschwind gave his second lecture at the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture at the Institute for Building Technology and Energy. The focus of this lecture was on Burckhardt’s expertise in interdisciplinary collaboration, general planning and fire protection.

The SKAN project was used to illustrate how important it is to deal with these topics across all specialist disciplines and how organizational or technical solutions influence all phases of the construction process. «Understanding the building as a system requires interdisciplinary knowledge and is also a prerequisite for successful project management,» emphasized Prof. Volker Wouters from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

«It was a pleasure for me to give the students an insight into the practical side of things and to use the SKAN project as an example to show that architecture, building technology and fire protection can be combined to create wonderful technical and aesthetic solutions. » Daniel Gschwind, Project Manager at Burckhardt. Our project serves as an inspiration and practical example for the students’ term papers. In May, Daniel Gschwind will also welcome the students on site at SKAN.
