Topping-out ceremony for the new building at Cantonal Hospital Aarau

On 5 July, the topping-out ceremony for Switzerland’s new hospital center was celebrated with around 300 guests, the contractor, the project managers and representatives from politics and business. As part of an architectural partnership, Burckhardt is responsible for the new Dreiklang hospital building along with wörner traxler richter.

«The great strength of the design lies in the internal organization of the building,» Daniel Hauswirth, partner and project manager at Burckhardt, stresses. The high-quality architecture permits utmost flexibility and brings together all areas of use under one roof. The new building is divided into three main areas of use, earning it the name of ‘Dreiklang’ (Triad). In the context of the overall building, however, the three areas constitute a single unit: outpatient clinics, functional areas and wards.

Claudia Drahotta, Managing Director and Project Manager at wörner traxler richter, emphasizes the importance of constructive, goal-oriented collaboration to ensure the success of the project: «The Dreiklang is the result of the dedicated collaboration of all those involved. Today we celebrate not only the progress of the construction work, but also the shared vision and enthusiasm that unite us in this project.»

The topping-out ceremony was celebrated after a construction period of just under two years, with the building remaining operational throughout. Hospital operations in the new building are scheduled to begin in 2027.
