Ludwig Cancer Research, Biopôle Epalinges: Groundbreaking ceremony

The Vaud authorities and representatives of Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) and Ludwig Cancer Research (LICR) met on Wednesday, 29 March 2023, on the Biopôle campus in Epalinges to place the traditional time capsule in the foundations of the building under construction. The building in question represents the second phase of construction for the competition won by Burckhardt and the general contractor HRS Real Estate SA in 2018.

In order to further develop life sciences in the canton of Vaud, new infrastructure is being built to house cutting edge technological equipment that will put scientists in the Lake Geneva region at the forefront of international clinical and research work in immuno-oncology. This commitment to life sciences supports innovative therapies that benefit the entire population while maintaining the competitiveness of research and the attractiveness of training in the context of international collaboration.

This building is a key part of the strategy to develop research in the field of synthetic immunotherapy and immune engineering as part of the partnership between the CHUV and Ludwig Cancer Research.

The LICR building on the Biopôle campus, which will house 250 researchers from 2024, is part of a larger overall concept that includes further research and development buildings, including a center for precision medicine.
